Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, or Lap-Band® surgery is a purely restrictive operation. This weight loss surgery is performed by placing a band around the uppermost part of the stomach, limiting the amount of food that can be eaten at a time. The band is then adjusted in our office to increase or decrease restriction according to the patient's
needs.

invasive procedure which involves no stapling of the stomach.
The average time of the actual surgery is anywhere from 30
minutes to an hour, and usually does not require a hospital
stay of more than one day. The Lap-Band® procedure is reversible,
and adjustment of the band requires only a needle puncture
to access the port underneath the skin.
After the gastric banding (Lap band®) procedure, our patients
are initially placed on a liquid diet for two weeks. Then our
patients are placed on a high protein diet under the supervision
of our expert nutritionists, nurse practitioner, and internal
medicine doctor. Results from the Lap-Band® procedure and
post surgery diet can be noticed in a matter of weeks or even
days.
