San
Antonio Lap Band Surgery
Laparoscopic adjustable
gastric banding, or lap band surgery is a purely restrictive
operation. The surgery is performed by placing a band
around the uppermost part of the stomach, separating the
stomach into two portions. The band is then adjusted to
increase or decrease restriction according to the patients
needs.
Lap Band surgery is a minimally invasive procedure which
involves no stapling of the stomach. The average time
of the actual surgery is anywhere from 30 minutes to an
hour, and usually does not require a hospital stay of
more than one day. The lap band procedure is reversible
and adjustment of the band requires only a needle puncture
to access the port underneath the skin.
Lap band surgery is one of the safest, most popular, and
affordable medical weight loss procedures.
After the lap band procedure, our patients are initially
placed on a liquid diet. Then our patients are placed
on a high protein diet under the supervision of our expert
nutritionists. Results from the lap band procedure and
post surgery diet can be noticed in a matter of weeks
or even days.
At our Texas Bariatric Center in San Antonio, our surgeons
and staff are committed to achieving long term results
for our patients. That is why we will work with you before,
during, and after your procedure to make ensure that the
weight comes off and stays off.
